Day Counter is a local-first Chrome extension that replaces the new-tab page with date countdowns created by the user.

Information handled by the extension

Day Counter stores the information you choose to enter: date titles, target dates, optional categories and category colors, yearly recurrence choices, and an optional display name. It also stores local appearance preferences, focused-view visibility and category selection, and technical identifiers and timestamps needed to edit, sort, back up, and restore those records.

How the information is used

This information is used only to display and manage your date counters, calculate recurring dates, organize categories, personalize the local greeting, remember appearance and focused-view choices, and create or restore backups you request.

Storage, transmission, and sharing

The current release stores its information locally in Chrome extension storage on your device. Day Counter does not transmit this information to the developer or any external server. It does not sell or share user data, perform advertising or analytics, track browsing activity, or inspect the content of websites.

When you choose Export, Chrome saves a JSON backup to a location you control. Imported backup files are read locally and validated before records are changed. Backup files outside the extension remain under your control.

Permissions

Day Counter requests only Chrome’s storage permission. This permission keeps dates and preferences available after Chrome restarts. The extension requests no host permissions and has no content scripts.

Retention and user control

Information remains in local extension storage until you edit or remove it or uninstall the extension. You can add, edit, remove, export, and replace records from the extension. Removing the extension does not remove JSON backups you previously exported.

Security

The extension contains its executable code in the installed package and does not execute remotely hosted code. Protect exported backup files because they may contain personal dates and titles.

Changes to this policy

If Day Counter later adds optional accounts or synchronization, those features will require an updated policy and a clear in-product disclosure before any local information is transmitted.

If you contact the developer by email, the developer receives your email address and the information you include and uses them to respond. Email is handled by the email providers involved. Sending a support email does not give the developer access to your extension data. Avoid including personal dates or backup files unless needed for support.

This Gmail address is the current developer contact and may later be replaced by a custom-domain address without changing the extension’s data practices.
